View from Kerr Notch.
In a letter from Ansel Hall to John C. Merriam of the Carnegie Institution dated September 30, 1932 Hall describes the painting – “No. 3 is a view from Kerr Notch in morning light and under entirely different conditions from No.2. The painting is more photographic than No. 1 or No. 2, but seems to lack atmosphere. The reflections are particularly good. Widforss says that he intends doing this over again with changed foreground.”
